Method

Burger Patties
  • Shaping the patties
Divide the ground beef into 4 equal parts. Shape into round patties about the size of the buns and about 1.5 cm (½ inch) thick. Press a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent puffing during cooking.
  • Seasoning the meat
Season both sides of each patty with salt and pepper. Add garlic or onion powder if using.
  • Grilling or pan-frying
Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 3–4 minutes per side. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty and let it melt.
Burger Buns
  • Preparing the buns
Cut the buns in half. Optionally spread with butter, then toast the cut sides on the grill or in a pan until golden brown.
Assembly
  • Stacking the ingredients
Place lettuce on the bottom half of the bun, followed by the hot cheese-topped patty, then tomato slices, onion rings, and pickles.
  • Saucing and closing
Spread your preferred sauces on the top bun, place it over the burger stack, and serve immediately. Best enjoyed with fries or a side salad.
